Trained volunteers provide these supports to people with life-limiting illnesses, dementia or caregivers experiencing high stress.

This program is offered free of charge through the generosity of our volunteers and donors, including the Halton Region Community Investment Fund.

Self-Compassion Circle

The Self-Compassion Circle Series is a safe and dynamic space where like-minded people can find support, guidance and community; a place to gather and practice together. Self- Compassion involves acting the same way towards yourself when you are having a difficult time, fail, or notice something you don’t like about yourself. Instead of just ignoring your pain with a “stiff upper lip” mentality, you stop to tell yourself “this is really difficult right now,” how can I comfort and care for myself in this moment?

The Self- Compassion Circle Series is a set of 6 sessions guided by 2 Self-Compassion Facilitators.  Ana Nunes-Freitas, Wellness Care Manager & Educator and Nina Page, Bereavement and Hospice Care Counsellor of Acclaim Health.

Next Series:
Tuesdays, Oct 26 to Dec 7 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm

* Although the Wellness Wednesday Series is not a pre-requisite, it is strongly recommended to build knowledge surrounding Individual Wellness.

For more information, please email our Wellness Care Manager, Ana Nunes-Freitas at [email protected] or call 905.827.8800 ext. 2330.

Be Well Hub

In this drop-in group, together we will explore different topics pertaining to enhancing our individual and communal wellness. Beginning September 15th, join us every third Wednesday of the month from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

Facilitator/Peer-led, we will review wellness articles of interest, share stories, experience a live meditation and encourage one another on our parallel wellness journeys. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to grow and encourage others.

Please note: although we will be touching upon personal struggles, our FOCUS for this group is to enhance our individual and communal well-being through exploring different coping strategies and moving from a surviving to a thriving growth mindset. If you require specific individual/ group support with your situation, a referral can be made for you.

For more information, please email our Wellness Care Manager, Ana Nunes-Freitas at [email protected] or call 905.827.8800 ext. 2330.

Grief Yoga

In a safe space, we will explore our grief through the healing benefits of yoga, and journaling.
As a gentle, low-impact exercise, yoga is a natural foil to those physical effects of grief. Moving
our bodies helps us both in the short term – we let go of those tense postures we’re holding
– and in the long term, as we improve our strength and flexibility and give ourselves a fighting
chance against illness. With yoga’s dual focus on motion and breath, it’s a healthy way to fight the stressful effects of loss.

Last Friday of the month starting September 24, 12:30-1:30pm

For more information, please email our Wellness Care Manager, Ana Nunes-Freitas at [email protected] or call 905.827.8800 ext. 2330.
