Advanced Comprehensive Education (ACE) for Support Workers

Building on the Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care Program, ACE focuses on the support worker’s scope of practice.

The Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care Program is a pre-requisite to this program. Please have your Fundamentals Program Guide with you for the virtual sessions.

Course Objectives

1. Develop trust and therapeutic relationships with the people and families you care for
2. Communicate effectively with people with cognitive impairments
3. Enhance your team communication skills
4. Recognize and manage conflict
5. Implement strategies for relieving pain, breathlessness, confusion and other symptoms
6. Understand the importance of your role in observing and reporting issues affecting your patient
7. Develop a self-care plan
8. Identify your role in maintaining confidentiality

• Attendance at all classes is required to receive a certificate of completion
